National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi is one of the most renowned fashion colleges in the country.     Of course nift,national institute of fashion technology is a dream platform for all design aspirants whether for fashion design or textile or other. But truth is somewhat different which everyone must be very well aware of. Right after schooling ( where you are taught nothing for designing ) there are three stages one has to go through or i must say should prepare oneself and these are.. when one appears for entrance exam, second is when one is in nift and third one is when one becomes a fashion or designer for respective field.
    These three stages have one thing in common and that is creating from imagination. In other words whatever the design one has in mind, should be executed well on paper first before going in for production. I here explain it first for stage one, when you are appearing for nift exam you will have to sketch from memory, without copying, everything asked in cat exam. They check your creative ability on this only that how have you visualised & understood things around you. Second, when you are studying in nift and working on projects or assignments there whether sketching, designing or participating in fashion shows. There you are supposed to create something extraordinary which catches everyone's attention. You have to take inspiration from the nature or anything in your surroundings. The same thing is done at professional level too because a fashion designer's job is to do the same. even big international brands like Louis Vuitton,Christian Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and others hire fashion & accessory designers to design for them & their job is to create new designs from memory which is not available anywhere in the world.
    In short anyone if dreams of getting into nift should develop such skills to sketch and design from memory, execution of ideas on paper is very very important. And this is all the way different from fine art where you are to just see, observe and draw.
